AMOEBA RECORDS JOINS THE RUMBLE SAN FRANCISCO TEAM

THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO has added yet another indie cornerstone to it's team of SF partners - AMOEBA RECORDS. The family includes The Owl Magazine, Bagel Radio, The Noise Pop Music Festival, The Bay Bridged, The San Francisco Bay Guardian and Spin Earth, which is pretty much the indie rock Mount Rushmore of the Bay area. We're all committed to helping up-and-coming bands get as much attention as possible in a time where the establishment is no longer working on developing bands.

The Amoeba store on the end of Haight Street near the entrance to Golden Gate Park is a mecca for music heads, especially in a city where the % of people that are DJ's rival any city on the planet. I think I've personally spent enough for a college education in this location, and I bet my brother is probably there right now flipping through bins.

Our next Rumble: SF party is on June 9th @ Cafe Du Nord.

THE RUMBLE: SAN DIEGO OPENS TONIGHT @ BAR PINK

Well, we rocked the Casbah and had a good time with a series of matinee parties and now we've moved THE RUMBLE: SAN DIEGO to North Park and BAR PINK. We've had our eye on this place since our friends at INDIGENOUS turned us onto Dang and company and tonight we kick off 2010 with an incredible RUMBLE: SAN DIEGO line-up.

The out-of-towner this month is the band that has absolutely wrecked The Rumble Tour this week, starting from Seattle to Thursday night's Rumble: LA - JAGUAR LOVE. It's been a total pleasure working with this band from pre-Rumble prep through the actual parties, two great guys that have taken the work done with The Blood Brothers and Pretty Girls Make Graves and turned it into a mash-up of T Rex and Robert Plant meets Passion Pit on fire. Expect a party the minute you hear the first scream, and there will be a lot of them.

Supporting the J-Love are two San Diego acts that you should already know about, but we're still dating - THE DABBERS and SPIDER FEVER. The Dabbers are just the kind of rock and roll band that we love here at FS, dirty, tough, grimey, the kind of band that you'd pick to go on a bar crawl with. Their music reflects that same kind of dangerous lifestyle that we only fondly wax sentimental about these days. SPIDER FEVER is yet another SD band that we've heard about from numerous SD trusted sources - what's going on San Diego - why so many good bands??

Guest DJ for the evening is DJ RUBYMARS

Of course, there will be $3 TRUMER PILS beer specials and if you're lucky, we may even do an hour of free TRUMER sampling, so get there early. The folks at TRUMER have been great in supporting The Rumble ->ie. making sure the band's don't go thirsty, allowing us to keep the event free, providing a premium beer at a low price, and now FREE tastings!

THE PARTY IS FREE

The Rumble: San Diego is brought to you by Future Sounds, Indigenous, SDdialed In, SD City Beat, M-Theory Records, WOXY, Spin Earth and Trumer Pils.

BAR PINK is located at 3829 30th Street in North Park

THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO TONIGHT @ CAFE DU NORD

Dear San Francisco, You may think we've moved on and are spending time in the other seven cities the Rumble takes place in each month, but the fact of the matter is that we took January off just to bring you our biggest Rumble yet. This Wednesday night, THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO moves into it's new home - CAFE DU NORD - and we've made it a night you won't forget. Where do we begin?

For starters, we've brought more friends to the party, literally, as we've added partners to the Rumble SF in the form of THE BAY BRIDGED, THE SF BAY GUARDIAN, MR ROBOTO PRESENTS and the NOISE POP MUSIC FESTIVAL. This week's Rumble party is the official NOISE POP WARM UP party to get you prepared for NP2010 which starts on February 23rd.

This party also represents the 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY of THE OWL MAG - that equals 'one 'hella long time' to those counting. The Rumble also goes even deeper to celebrate BAGEL RADIO's 7 YEAR ANNIVERSARY. Our original partners are no Johnny-come-lately's to the Bay Area music scene.

But what about the music? Headlining and playing all The Rumble west coast dates in February is JAGUAR LOVE. They've had back-to-back rawkin' Rumbles in Seattle on Monday, and last night in Portland @ Holocene, and are on fire rolling into the Bay.

We've been trying to get MY FIRST EARTHQUAKE'S local show schedule to mesh up with our night and our persistence finally paid off as they support Jaguar Love and again, get you prepared for their NP 2010 performance. Opening up the evening will be the sounds of BUTTERFLY BONES, another up-and-comer that's headed for Noise Pop this month.

The O.G., our resident DJ BAGEL TED will be handling the DJ duties as no Rumble SF party feels right without Ted as the selector.

The party is FREE if you RSVP here

TONIGHT THE RUMBLE: PORTLAND RUMBLES INTO HOLOCENE

Ok, so we had too much fun over New Years and skipped hosting a hangover Rumble party in January, THE RUMBLE: PORTLAND is back for February with an incredible line-up @ Holocene tonight with three Portland based acts.

JAGUAR LOVE is our featured act on this month's Rumble Tour of the West Coast parties, and from the sound of last night's action in Seattle, they 'Started A Fire'.

Our Portland partners recently turned us onto the support and the electro-indie stylings of LOGAN LYNN, who recently dropped a cover version of The Dandy Warhols' 'The Last High' that owned us. Logan is signed to the Dandys' BEAT THE WORLD RECORDS and is prepping for the follow-up from last fall's 'From Pillar To Post'.

Opening up and providing music throughout the evening is DJ A TRAIN. Again, we're trusting the locals on this one because we've heard about AT all the way down in Southern California. You will dance at some point if you attend the party with these three performers.

The Rumble: Portland is brought to you by Future Sounds, Cravedog, Pamplemoose, Music Millennium, XO Publicity, WOXY, and Spin Earth.

THE PARTY IS FREE

HOLOCENE is located at 1001 Southeast Morrison Street

TONIGHT - THE RUMBLE: SEATTLE IS BACK @ HAVANA SOCIAL CLUB

Dear Seattle,

We didn't leave you, we just enjoyed the holidays and prepared for what THE RUMBLE: SEATTLE is about to bring you TONIGHT at an all new location - HAVANA SOCIAL CLUB - and with two bands we think are incredible.

Headlining and playing all The Rumble west coast dates in February is the mighty JAGUAR LOVE. The band is about to drop in March their full-length, 'Hologram Jams' (Fat Possum) and their new material is the best to date. If you listen to the Future Sounds radio show on WOXY.COM, you've heard a preview of at least two HUGE tracks - "Started A Fire" and "Polaroids & Red Wine" and it should give you an indication of just how deep and amazing this record is.

Jaguar Love is one of two bands that have sprung out of the 2007 break-up of experimental hardcore band THE BLOOD BROTHERS (the other being Past Lives). In Jaguar Love, singer/pianist Johnny Whitney and guitarist Cody Votolato are ex-members of that band, and Pretty Girls Make Graves member Jay Clark was the drummer: Due to unforeseen differences, Jay Clark has left the band.

Opening up the evening is the band formerly known as THEY LIVE!, now going by the name MASH HALL. They recently played in Seattle on New Years Day with Japandroids and mix hip hop with indie sensibilities. We still need to find out the story behind why They Live! is dead, but the new Mash Hall tracks sent our way are club thumpers.

The Rumble: Seattle is brought to you by Future Sounds, The Stranger, Line Out, Easy Street Records, The Wig PR, WOXY.com and Spin Earth and is a party that highlights up and coming artists in an intimate setting. The goal of The Rumble chain of parties, which is now in 8 cities a month is to have the indie community support the indie artists, from retail to radio to press to online outlets.

THE PARTY IS FREE

HAVANA SOCIAL CLUB is located at 1010 E Pike Street

TONIGHT - THE RUMBLE: LOS ANGELES @ 3 CLUBS

It's here - THE RUMBLE: LOS ANGELES burns tonight at 3 Clubs with 3 bands we love on a silver platter for FREE. AUSHUA, CHASING KINGS & CAT PARTY with DJ's S.i.S. will handle all the entertaining. Watch the National Championship game at the bar before the party kicks off with John and the Longhorn fans.

For once, don't be sooooo LA tonight and get there early for a change and catch a band whose 7"'s and EP's have owned me, and look for their track, "Tar & Feathers" to appear on Future Sound 34 (due out hopefully by the end of January) - CAT PARTY.

"Once upon a summer we were desperate to be younger still..."

The lyrics pulled straight from the title track of the CHASING KINGS EP, "The Current State Of Our Future", these youngsters have old souls. See the interview below for more on these guys.

Headlining the party is the band from Santa Ana known as AUSHUA, who are showing off their latest EP, "Limbo" at shows all over Southern California recently, and tonight we get the treat. We meant to do a nice interview with them and hear more about this new output of tracks but time kept on slipping, slipping, slipping...into the future....

The party is FREE and brought to you by Future Sounds, RM64, BMI, Buzzbands.LA, Stranded In Stereo, WOXY, The Owl Mag and Spin Earth.

TONIGHT IN LOS ANGELES - THE RUMBLE: LA @ 3 CLUBS

In the highly competitive season of Holiday shows, benefits and parties, tonight in LA delivers plenty of options. Options are nice, but THE RUMBLE: LOS ANGELES is mandatory. You must come to this show, please.

What's on tap this month is a four band line up, and a true battle of LA vs. SD. The upstart San Diego, as you know and as we've reported previously, is coming strong these days with quality band after band. Tonight they are represented in a 'The Warriors' style battle royale by TAPE DECK MOUNTAIN, the heralded buzzing act that Pitchfork loves, and the Arcade Fire-like power of THE DROWNING MEN. Los Angeles steps forward with the Pretenders-meets-Belly rock and roll of ALL WRONG & THE PLANS CHANGE and first up will be the uber-creative, EVAN VOYTAS. The ladies that call themselves DJ S.i.S. will be there making all the boys stare at them on the turntables.

Joining The Rumble: Los Angeles family of partners is BUZZBANDS.LA. We've read Kevin's column for years at the Times, now as the full-fledged BB.LA blog, he's out every night reporting back on what we should've have gone out to see. Welcome brother.

The Rumble: Los Angeles is FREE and it's at 3 Clubs in Hollywood - on the corner of Santa Monica Blvd and Vine. Don't spend too much time in the Army surplus store, get in early for EV.
