SAN FRANCISCO RUMBLES @ MILK TONIGHT ON HAIGHT STREET

THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO happens tonight @ Milk on Haight Street, across from Amoeba Music, and once again we're serving up three up-and-comers, DJ's, Trumer Pils beer specials and even a happy hour show.

Headlining the evening will be a band with a name that reflects the artistic past of San Francisco Beats and beyond - CITY LIGHT. City Light are Postal Service and Aqueduct-esque electro rockers and Noise Pop favorites. Their release Burned Out Bright (Banter Media) is full of bright yet distorted electronic soundscapes like "Someday Maybe" and has already caught the attention of out friends over at The Bay Bridged.

In the middle slot of the evening is the SF act that we owe a huge thanks to THE DOWNER PARTY for stepping in last minute. The four piece have been buzzing in the bay area for a while, with classic uptempo rock combined with sugary lead vocals courtesy of Sierra Frost. THE DOWNER PARTY are snotty punk rock with sharp lyrics and guitar hooks.

"Sierra Frost now kicks it awesome-style with the Downer Party, making wonderfully pure, energetic rock full of sharp hooks and off-kilter tempos." - Stranger Dance

Opening up is a band I urge you to see. Seattle and Portland are still chattering about their performances on Monday and Tuesday, but LA's CHASING KINGS are the kind of band you see once, and you'll make a point of seeing them every time they are in town. Some compare the vocal stylings to everyone from Elvis Costello to Squeeze but we strongly recommend you getting there early enough to see this band, so you can say you say them way back when playing Milk.

Resident DJ, BAGEL TED (Bagel Radio) will be there spinning throughout the night and there will be TRUMER PILS beer specials all night long as well. Be sure to get to Milk early that night for the Milk Happy Hour show that is being headlined by another up-and-comer > CASH PONY.

The party is FREE if you RSVP before 5pm today - to do so go here
http://sonicliving.com/rumble30 If you don't, it's $5 at the door.

The Rumble: San Francisco is a monthly indie rock night brought to you by SF minded friends like Future Sounds, The Owl Mag, Bagel Radio, Noise Pop, The SF Bay Guardian, Amoeba Music, The Bay Bridged and Trumer Pils.

MILK is located across the street from Amoeba Music on Haight Street

With only days to go until THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO @ Milk, we had a line-up change that we wanted all of you that have RSVP'd to know and those still on the fence - THE DOWNER PARTY will now be playing in place of Leopold & His Fiction, along with headliners CITY LIGHT and LA's CHASING KINGS + DJ BAGEL TED (Bagel Radio). The rest is still the same - Free if your RSVP here:

A huge thanks goes out to The Downer Party for stepping in last minute, we've been enjoying their release, "Ego-Driven Lust Creatures" for some time now and the Rumble SF collective of partners have had them on our 'we need to get them to play The Rumble list' for months.

AMOEBA RECORDS JOINS THE RUMBLE SAN FRANCISCO TEAM

THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO has added yet another indie cornerstone to it's team of SF partners - AMOEBA RECORDS. The family includes The Owl Magazine, Bagel Radio, The Noise Pop Music Festival, The Bay Bridged, The San Francisco Bay Guardian and Spin Earth, which is pretty much the indie rock Mount Rushmore of the Bay area. We're all committed to helping up-and-coming bands get as much attention as possible in a time where the establishment is no longer working on developing bands.

The Amoeba store on the end of Haight Street near the entrance to Golden Gate Park is a mecca for music heads, especially in a city where the % of people that are DJ's rival any city on the planet. I think I've personally spent enough for a college education in this location, and I bet my brother is probably there right now flipping through bins.

Our next Rumble: SF party is on June 9th @ Cafe Du Nord.

CELEBRATE CINCO DE MAYO @ THE RUMBLE SAN FRANCISCO - CAFE DU NORD

Celebrate Cinco De Mayo tonight with Francisco Fernandez and THE FEROCIOUS FEW as this month's RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO celebrates the release of "Juices" on Birdman Records!

Headlining the Rumble party this month at Cafe Du Nord are the dynamic duo of THE FEROCIOUS FEW, who just dropped their debut LP on Birdman and are playing the West Coast leg of THE RUMBLE this week - 6 parties in 7 nights. The San Francisco show, being their home turf, will also double as their CD release party, so the boys should be in rare form.

Supporting them are a band we've been trying to get to play our party for ages, THE SERMON. Frontman Mike Gabriel comes off like a Southern Baptist preacher - preachin' the blues! They have just finished up a new album which has help from such heavyweights as Penelope Houston of THE AVENGERS and Mr Incredible- KELLY STOLTZ.

Coming up from Los Angeles but a band with a sound that will be right at home with these growlers is MISSISSIPPI MAN . We recently got turned onto them and their song "Hell's Oven" has us hooked.

Resident DJ - BAGEL TED of Bagel Radio will do what he does best - spin great records all night in between the bands, and we have TRUMER PILS beer specials all night long for this Cinco De Mayo version of THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO.

The party is FREE if you RSVP at at SONICLIVING (if not, it's $5)
http://sonicliving.com/rumble29

As always, this event is brought to you by Future Sounds, The Owl Mag, Bagel Radio, Noise Pop Festival, The Bay Bridged, SF Bay Guardian, Stranded In Stereo, Trumer Pils and Spin Earth.

THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO HAPPENS TONIGHT @ MILK

The PEPPER RABBIT/Rumble run continues tonight in San Francisco @ Milk Bar on Haight Street. The Rabbits are joined by SF based acts - VEIL VEIL VANISH and SILVER SWANS.

THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO is a FREE monthly indie-rock party is brought to you by Future Sounds, The Owl Mag, Bagel Radio, the Noise Pop Music Festival, The SF Bay Guardian, The Bay Bridged, Trumer Pils, Stranded In Stereo and Spin Earth.

THE LINE-UP:

VEIL VEIL VANISH (11:30)
PEPPER RABBIT (10:20)
SILVER SWANS (9:30)

Resident DJ - BAGEL TED - will handle the mixing duties

The dark sounds of VEIL VEIL VANISH will headline the evening and take us into the witching hour. "Veil Veil Vanish is the darkest gem in the treasure chest of San Francisco's indie scene ." - Noise Pop Music Festival

LA's PEPPER RABBIT are in playoff shape with their live set after Monday night's Seattle performance and last night's Rumble: Portland play. Seattle based blog, SOUND ON THE SOUND had this to say about them, "They’re slightly goofy, but they’ve clearly got big pop ambitions."

What's not to love about the vocals of Ann Yu, in her other band (LOVELIKEFIRE being her mainstay) called SILVER SWANS. Their recent Tricycle Records release, "Realize The Ghost " is amazing, and makes you want to listen to it next to THE KNIFE and your old MORCHEEBA records. This electronic duo will open things up around 9:30pm.

So it's a FREE night of music if you RSVP at Sonicliving (if you don't, it's $5), as well as giving you TRUMER PILS beer specials all night long.

TONIGHT - THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO @ CAFE DU NORD

It's dubbed as the 'Noise Pop Hangover Party' for good reason, because everyone OD'd on great music over the course of last week and weekend with NP2010 at work, but going cold turkey is never a good idea, it's all about the easin' in........so we've provided your segue back into life after 5 bands a night - THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO.

Headlining the event is a band that since last year - when they supported DEERHUNTER at the Noise Pop opening night show - has grown into a five-piece and has evolved their live show into a true performance - LILOFEE. Kimi and Co. will bring their Knife-like beats and lights to The Rumble along with a band that made tracks all the way from Athens, Georgia - TWIN TIGERS. Forced to celebrate the release day of their record - 'Gray Waves' - from the road in Texas and New Mexico, en route to the Bay area, they'll be packing heat upon arrival. They roll in after having CD release parties in Athens and Atlanta before heading west to Rumble. Opening up is STRIPMALL ARCHITECTURE, a band we've only recently come to know, but now we realize we go back with them through members in HALOU, the super cool, downtempo-Massive Attack like unit, and a drummer we used to have drinks with all the time at Murio's Trophy Room. Our resident DJ, and our piece of the rock - DJ BAGEL TED - will handled the duties between bands, playing all the kind of tracks that has kept Bagel Radio nominated annually as one of the best online radio stations anywhere.

Another treat for your hangover is more hair of the dog - TRUMER PILS beer specials all night!

The party is FREE if you bother to RSVP here before 5pm -- http://sonicliving.com/rumble27

The Rumble: San Francisco is brought to you by Future Sounds, The Owl Mag, Bagel Radio, The Bay Bridged, Noise Pop, SF Bay Guardian, Mr Roboto Presents, Stranded In Stereo and Spin Earth.

THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO TONIGHT @ CAFE DU NORD

Dear San Francisco, You may think we've moved on and are spending time in the other seven cities the Rumble takes place in each month, but the fact of the matter is that we took January off just to bring you our biggest Rumble yet. This Wednesday night, THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO moves into it's new home - CAFE DU NORD - and we've made it a night you won't forget. Where do we begin?

For starters, we've brought more friends to the party, literally, as we've added partners to the Rumble SF in the form of THE BAY BRIDGED, THE SF BAY GUARDIAN, MR ROBOTO PRESENTS and the NOISE POP MUSIC FESTIVAL. This week's Rumble party is the official NOISE POP WARM UP party to get you prepared for NP2010 which starts on February 23rd.

This party also represents the 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY of THE OWL MAG - that equals 'one 'hella long time' to those counting. The Rumble also goes even deeper to celebrate BAGEL RADIO's 7 YEAR ANNIVERSARY. Our original partners are no Johnny-come-lately's to the Bay Area music scene.

But what about the music? Headlining and playing all The Rumble west coast dates in February is JAGUAR LOVE. They've had back-to-back rawkin' Rumbles in Seattle on Monday, and last night in Portland @ Holocene, and are on fire rolling into the Bay.

We've been trying to get MY FIRST EARTHQUAKE'S local show schedule to mesh up with our night and our persistence finally paid off as they support Jaguar Love and again, get you prepared for their NP 2010 performance. Opening up the evening will be the sounds of BUTTERFLY BONES, another up-and-comer that's headed for Noise Pop this month.

The O.G., our resident DJ BAGEL TED will be handling the DJ duties as no Rumble SF party feels right without Ted as the selector.

The party is FREE if you RSVP here

THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCICO TONIGHT @ HARLOT

THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO TURNS 2 YEARS OLD TONIGHT?
Two years???? WTF?

How did it happen? The little party meant to bring together the Bay area indie rock community lasted two years? It started as an indie dance party, then added one band each party, then up to two acts performing, and the future looks like three bands + DJ's.

Harlot has been great to THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO for two years and Jacek, you are the man for taking care of every band, DJ and Rumble attendee. Watch our for those bar stools late night Drunkula....

For the 2 year party we had to come up with the cream of the crop, and FITZ & THE TANTRUMS provide that very thing. Think HALL & OATES meets ROBERT PALMER meets THIN WHITE DUKE era-Bowie. Add a big splash of Motown and you're getting close to describing FITZ and his wrecking crew as they do the entire West Coast run of RUMBLE dates in October, from Seattle to now Las Vegas.

Listen to the entire Fitz & The Tantrums EP, "Songs For A Break-Up Vol. 1" at http://www.fitzandthetantrums.com

The Rumble: SF wouldn't be the Rumble: SF if it didn't spotlight a band from the Bay area that is also destined for greatness. This month our collective team of partners have cooked up the mighty MAN/MIRACLE from Oakland. You must hear their anthemic "Pushing and Shoving".

Need more? How about special guest DJ's like AARON AXELSEN from POPSCENE/LIVE 105 and DJ TOM THUMP, the guy that digs so deep in the crates his fingernails are black.
Couple those two with resident badasss, DJ BAGEL TED, and you've got yourself a celebration.

The party is FREE if you RSVP here
http://sonicliving.com/therumble23
It's $5 if that's not your thing and you like spending money.

TONIGHT @ HARLOT - THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO

The seven-piece dynamo that is UNITED STATE OF ELECTRONICA are driving through Weed, CA in a fury to reach San Francisco this evening after killing it in Portland last evening at The Rumble: Portland. Tonight they cram into Harlot for THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO and we're still not sure how they'll all fit, but they'll probably take over the dance floor as well in more ways than one. Joining them is the incredible sounds of PANCE PARTY, which you might as well call a dance party, because you add DJ AMPLIVE (Zion I) and DJ AARON AXELSEN (Popscene/Live 105) and you won't be able to sit down.

The party is FREE is you RSVP here >
http://sonicliving.com/therumble22
If not, or if you wait until 5pm, it'll be $5. Money well spent for this line up.

TONIGHT IN SAN FRANCISCO - THE RUMBLE: SF - COMPANY OF THIEVES - A B & THE SEA

Rumblin' into night three of THE RUMBLE west coast run, we stop in San Francisco tonight at Harlot with COMPANY OF THIEVES and A B & THE SEA. San Francisco's A B & The Sea just played up in Portland at our Rumble warehouse party and they hijacked Evan and are spending quality time together in a van, watching Oregon and Northern California pass by the windows. Of course the mandatory stop in Weed, California for photos and spiritual uplifting is in order.
Company of Thieves just headlined Spaceland in LA this past weekend and are spending time in the bay and doing a mini-set at 11pm. Our guest DJ this month is Aaron Axelsen from Popscene and Live 105 FM. Everytime he's played with resident DJ, Bagel Ted (Bagel Radio),it's been memorable as they seem to bring out the very best in one another.

JUST ANNOUNCED - THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO LINE UP FOR AUGUST

We have a screamer on our hands at the August THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO @ Harlot. Coming in from Chicago we have COMPANY OF THIEVES playing a mini-set and local buzz act, A B & THE SEA, plus guest DJ Aaron Axelsen (Popscene, Live 105).

From the moment I heard COT's frontwoman, Genevieve Schatz
's voice I was hooked. Then after seeing the Rushmore-inspired video for "Oscar Wilde" (see below), the hook was buried deep.

With their track, "Suzie", San Francisco's A B & THE SEA have become a regular to 'The Hot 5' on the Future Sounds radio show. We understand that these amazing demos we received were produced by Chris from THE MORNING BENDERS, which only adds to our devotion.

As always, the mighty Bagel Ted of BAGEL RADIO holds it down as our resident DJ, and we'll have drink specials and giveaways, plus more copies of FS33.
