Not only is tonight's Viper Room show a HELLYA! night, it's also sweet Heather's birthday party - so tonight's line up is like a who's who of the artists rising in LA. Of course dear to the FS hearts you have DJANGO JAMES & THE MIDNIGHT SQUIRES and FITZ & THE TANTRUMS playing back to back, but then you throw in DR SEAHORSE and ROB ROY. WEDNESDAY NIGHT IN LOS ANGELES: THE RINGERS + DJANGO JAMES @ THE ROXY

A double shot of Future Sounds artists play together at The Roxy Theatre on Wednesday night when THE RINGERS and DJANGO JAMES & THE MIDNIGHT SQUIRES get together on the under card of the Mummy Troll show. I have no idea what to expect with Mummy, I'm told they are a band from Russia, that sings in Russian, and only play a few times a year in America. Let's just say that the combo of the Ringers + Django + crazy Russians should add up to a madcap night on the Sunset Strip.

We have a late start to the party this evening ~ 9:30pm ~ but the good news is that there is $2 drink specials all night long. May's RUMBLE: LA is explosive! We brought back two of our favorite live performers to date as the mighty ones, THE YELLING, return to the little 3 Clubs backroom to blow out your eardrums. We're very proud of how far this band has come and look forward to hearing some new songs. Supporting them will be DJANGO JAMES & THE MIDNIGHT SQUIRES, the LA act that is gearing up for their first trip to London to support their UK single release of "Hurricane" in June. First on is someone we've heard loads about, MACK WINSTON & THE REFLECTIONS, and our trusted scouts tell us that this band is a live monster. So we're gunnin' for you this month.

The party takes place on May 7th.

Future Sounds has thrown in with THE DELI MAGAZINE LA tonight for a party at The Roxy that starts at 7pm. Performing will be ELECTROCUTE, DANIEL AHEARN and CORREATOWN, plus our very own DJANGO JAMES & THE MIDNIGHT SQUIRES (10pm). The Hunnypot crew are DJing and Deli is providing the treats.

Sunday night may be the Grammy's, but I mean really? Have you seen the performer line up and did you recall all the music that was "popular" in 2008? Not sure you need to sit through many hours of nonsense when you could get out and experience new music personally. DJANGO JAMES & THE MIDNIGHT SQUIRES hit the stage tonight at 10pm at Cinespace for the Sunday night party CAMERATA. Headlining as usual is THE DEVILS ORCHESTRA, with ANDY CLOCKWISE and ROLL THE TANKS also on the bill. Free before 10:30, free drinks until then as well.

FUTURE SOUNDS BEST OF 2008 - THINGS TO LOOK FOR IN 2009

I actually have a really hard time with 'Best Of' lists each year because it's sometimes hard to put in perspective which bands, songs, albums, etc meant the most to you - which ones you played ALL the songs more than others with just one or two tracks - which ones marked a special moment that year or struck some personal connection. In a world where the iPod and iTunes has changed the way we encounter and devour music, so many have great individual songs, or just good songs, but it takes a real focused effort to turn out 10-13 cuts anymore that are comprehensive and interesting.
