TONIGHT - THE RUMBLE: SEATTLE @ HAVANA SOCIAL CLUB

Really? It's March already? SXSW time again? Well, in order to get you in the spirit of catching a lot of live music this month, we are starting March off immediately with THE RUMBLE: SEATTLE tonight at the Havana Social Club in Capitol Hill. This intimate setting is perfect to catch bands that are so good, you'll never see them in a room this size again.

The dynamic duo that is HAIR ENVELOPE bring their arsenal of instrumentation and genres to the party, going off with keyboards, sequencers, saxophones, drums and some other tricks up their sleeves. One site called them, " a concoction of electronic circus jazz and experimental pop sounds" which I think best describes their uniqueness. Whatever you call it, it's good music to me and to you if you show up this evening for a free night of music.

The second band on the bill I have to admit, I have a history with from my days with FILM SCHOOL. NIGHTMARE AIR boast members Dave Dupuis and James Smith of FS, who now have another act, one in which Dupuis handles vocals and they have a Swaan Miller on bass. Seattle knows all about amazing trios, and this is one of them. The band calls both Seattle and Los Angeles home but they are now the world's, getting plenty of ink in the UK from NME and Artrocker. The sound is big, sonic, as their namesake gets closer to nailing. The band is heading to Canadian Music Week after the show for a "Triple-Headline" showcase, and at one point are getting air-lifted in by a promoter.

We're also featuring beer specials from TRUMER PILS tonight for $3.50 - ask for it, tastes great.

The party is FREE and is brought to you by Future Sounds, The Stranger, Line Out, Easy Street Records, The Wig PR, WOXY.COM and Spin Earth.

THE RUMBLE WEST COAST DATES ANNOUNCED - TWIN TIGERS PLAY THROUGH

It seems that it was just yesterday we we're knee deep in Hologram Jams (out now on Fat Possum btw) from last month's RUMBLE band, the mighty JAGUAR LOVE. We had a terrific time with that circuit and seeing the room go wild each time the duo roared into office favorites "Postcards and Red Wine" or "I Started a Fire." The response to the JL love couldn't have been better and before I tell you about March info, I want to extend a HUGE thanks to anyone that came out to any of the dates, all our sponsors and all the venues! Let's move onto MARCH!

We have so many RUMBLE parties in March that we need to roll them out systematically all the way into our 4 Rumble parties at SXSW in Austin (including the Super Rumble night party).

It all starts though in Seattle on Monday night at the Havana Social Club with two quality SEA based acts:
HAIR ENVELOPE & NIGHTMARE AIR. We've spun both of these bands heavily on the FS radio show on WOXY, from Hair Envelope's brilliant "Largo Lagos' to the spin-off act sporting 2 members of FILM SCHOOL - Nightmare Air. If you've heard 'Who Who Lies Who Down' you understand what force DD and crew puts into each track, and by the way, that is Mr Dupuis on vocals.

THE RUMBLE: SAN FRANCISCO next Wednesday has the subtitle of being the official 'Noise Pop Hangover Show', because NP2010 has taken over the Bay Area this week and weekend, and if you haven't had enough great music, we offer up this incredible line-up:
There is no way to hide our absolute LOVE for LILOFEE. We put out their 7" vinyl for the single, 'Runaway' at the end of 2009, and are set to drop their second single, 'Destroy Me' (+a video + a remix) on Future Sounds Records in March. Stay tuned for more info on that release.

STRIPMALL ARCHITECTURE we were just introduced to but after listening to the Myspace songs and vibing their influences, we're instant fans. Here's what the SF WEEKLY had to say:
"Does the mention of a band somewhere in-between Sigur Ros and the Cocteau Twins make those little hairs on the back of your neck tingle? If so, you owe it to yourself to check for Stripmall Architecture's show." Resident DJ, BAGEL TED, will handle the DJ duties.

That leads us to TWIN TIGERS from Athens, Georgia, a band that will be playing through the circuit starting in SF, into LA, San Diego, and will be playing THE RUMBLE: LAS VEGAS that will be a part of the NEON REVERB MUSIC FESTIVAL on the 12th. They will keep the wheels turning to Austin and will be playing THE RUMBLE @ SXSW at Shangra La, as well as 6 other parties (including the WOXY Official SXSW showcase @ Emo's Annex on Friday night).

Red Fox Run by Twin Tigers from Robert Thomason on Vimeo.

Their debut record - 'Gray Waves' on Old Flame Records drops Tuesday, March 2nd and the album is a flamethrower. We're thrilled to include 'Passive Idol' on the upcoming Future Sounds 34 release. Here's what AQUARIUM DRUNKARD has to say about it: "A four piece, the bands live show kills, reminiscent of Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine and Psychocandy era JAMC."

So Twin Tigers will hit Los Angeles for THE RUMBLE: LOS ANGELES @ 3 Clubs on Thursday and we all had good fortune smile upon us when RUMSPRINGA stepped forward to headline our party as they prep for SXSW. We've been fans for some time and finally got our opportunity to bring them into that 3 Clubs backroom where they will take it apart. Our lovely resident DJ's, S.i.S. are always present, and always bring their smiles and great selections.

Opening up LA, but headlining THE RUMBLE: SAN DIEGO is a band that we're freaked out about - BEATERS. This band heads out on tour as direct support to THE SOFT PACK post-SXSW, and we get to double-dip with them in both cities, in our effort to show swap San Diego and Los Angeles bands together. They had us from the first 30 seconds of "Fishage". TWIN TIGERS will continue their tear of the West Coast at Bar Pink on Saturday night, and a San Francisco act that is a Rumble veteran, BIRDS & BATTERIES, round out the bill in SD. We're big fans of their single, "The Villain" off their 'Up To No Good EP'.

We'll be announcing the line-up for THE RUMBLE:LAS VEGAS, which is the featured show at this year's NEON REVERB FESITVAL on Friday night, as well as all the details surrounding the four SXSW Rumble parties. THE RUMBLE: NEW YORK will also be announced next week - New venue, back in the big apple.

FUTURE SOUNDS RADIO DEBUTS 1.18.10

More information on bands that debuted this week on the FUTURE SOUNDS radio show on WOXY....

NOTTEE
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: Somewhere in Sweden
TRACK: Control

Sweden's NOTTEE has a way about her that leaves me feeling naughty indeed. Her name is Nova Drougge and she's making a run at LYKKE LI for foxy Swede. Kitsune is already onto it.

MONOGOLD
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: Brooklyn
TRACK: Dead Sea Minerals

Yet another Brooklyn act with electro-indie vibes, MONOGOLD has already grabbed press quotes from Spin and Deli Magazine NY, and now the Johnny-come-lately Future Sounds team spilled into the party. Unsigned

NEON TREES
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: Provo, UT
TRACK: Animal

A major label band that wasn't from the UK slipped into our show, how did it happen? Well, we liked the music, and Mercury US operates like an indie at times anyway. In town playing Spaceland for the Club NME night this Wednesday.

THE STATIC JACKS
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: Westfield, New Jersey
TRACK: My Parent's Lied

New Jersey's THE STATIC JACKS are working hard to right the possibly insurmountable wrong that MTV's 'Jersey Shore' has done the Garden State. Playing the Mercury Lounge in NY on the 23rd and then to SXSW. Unsigned

THE PADDLE BOAT
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: San Diego
TRACK: Air Conditioned Nightmare

Part of a San Diego triple-threat that came courtesy of our buds at Sezio, THE PADDLE BOAT has been making wavves (I couldn't resist) loud enough that we've been hearing the name splashed around before finally hearing the sound. Single Screen Records

THE VISION OF A DYING WORLD
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: San Diego
TRACK: Mantra/What Is And What Is Not

I need more music from this band, as this song, "Mantra/What Is And What Is Not" opens up into an amazing creation, and there must be more behind this curtain. Single Screen Records

BLACK MAMBA
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: San Diego
TRACK: Lacewings

Finishing out the SD trifecta it's BLACK MAMBA, a band with a striking sound that is also on Single Screen Records. There is something in the water down in San Diego and it ain't Montezuma's Revenge.

TWIN SHADOW
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN:
TRACK: Castles In The Snow

I can tell I'm going to like this TWIN SHADOW character, just look at the man with the yellow balloon. This song, "Castles In The Snow" is fantastic. Unsigned

BAD SPORTS
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: Denton, Texas
TRACK: Face Like That

BAD SPORTS, another brilliant band name! The garage rock sound is as dirty and nasty as the floor in a Napa Auto Parts. Dig it! Unsigned

JACK LADDER
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: Sydney, Australia
TRACK: Forgotten

He's 6'5" and has been described as sounding like NICK CAVE fronting SUICIDE. Thought that would grab your attention. We haven't heard anything this Cave-like since O. CHILDREN. Look for Jack at SXSW this March. Spunk Records (AU)

THE SATIN PEACHES
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: Detroit
TRACK: Well Well Well Well

I've been hearing about these Peaches for some time, wild rumors about a band that was going to swallow us up, and finally the Golden Sugar Bear sent us some music. Unsigned

HAIR ENVELOPE
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: Seattle
TRACK: Largo Lagos

You have to be intrigued at the very least when you run across a band named HAIR ENVELOPE, and this led to quite a discovery from Seattle. This photo only makes the curiosity boil over that much more. Unsigned

THE RHONE OCCUPATION
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: Los Angeles
TRACK: I Know I Did You Wrong

Kevin @ Buzzbands.LA tipped us on THE RHONE OCCUPATION and we liked what we heard so they are now playing with JAGUAR LOVE at February's RUMBLE: LA party @ 3 Clubs. Unsigned and they are giving their EP away for free on their Myspace page.

CHERRY CHAPSTICK
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: Boston/Montreal
TRACK: The Drop

We were tipped off on this electro-indie outfit that shares time in Boston and Montreal by CHASING KINGS, and so we investigated and fell into a sticky mess of tracks that will all get FS radio play. Unsigned.

SPIRITS
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: Hamilton, Ontario (Canada)
TRACK: Open The Door

The Pittsburgh of Canada (Hamilton) brings us this band that isn't afraid of '80's influences that also mixes contemporary sounds, a la fellow Northerners, THE DELAYS. I need more music from this act, because everything I've heard thus far is of high caliber. Sonic Unyon Records
