FUTURE SOUNDS RADIO DEBUTS 1.11.10

More information on bands that debuted this week on the FUTURE SOUNDS radio show on WOXY....

BLACK CAMARO
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: Las Vegas
TRACK: Calypso

I'm not basing my fondness of the Las Vegas act, BLACK CAMARO, because of my childhood idolization of my older brother Dave and his baddddasss black Camaro, but because this act played THE RUMBLE: LAS VEGAS party at The Aruba last month and left people racing. The song is really, really catchy. Not sure what BreadBall Records is...

IMAGINE DRAGONS
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: Las Vegas
TRACK: Emma

Thanks to our monthly RUMBLE: LAS VEGAS party, our partners there have turned our attention to a city we had left for quick trips of devastation and major label only acts (Killers/Panic At My B-Hole), to finding some quality indie acts with bright futures. Case in point with IMAGINE DRAGONS, a five-piece that just spent time in LA doing shows and getting noticed. Unsigned

THE HAPPEN-INS
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: Austin, TX
TRACK: The Kids Don't Dance

Coming at us from Austin, Texas, and just confirmed for our RUMBLE: AUSTIN launch party in February at Beerland, it's THE HAPPEN-INS. This track is a straight pull from THE STONES and a bunch of blues legends before them, but the spin on it is that they are talking about indie hipsters with their arms crossed. Unsigned

CONGRATULATIONS
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: Portland, OR
TRACK: Juice + Syrup

Something cool is going on with Portland's BRAVE RECORDS, a tiny record label that is a collective built around cool indie bands from PDX that puts out vinyl releases. Vosotros tipped us off on these kids, CONGRATULATIONS, that woe'd the crowd at Spaceland recently here in LA.

ASA RANSOM
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: New York City
TRACK: Red

"Red" was just our first pick off their EP, 'The Gold', but it could've been any one of them. A five piece that just spent some time in Los Angeles playing a residency before heading back to their home in Manhattan. Unsigned

ACTIVE CHILD
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: Los Angeles
TRACK: When Your Love Is Safe

Another one we were napping on, it took our boy Nassir to tip us off on what NME and RCRDLBL.COM are already praising. Looks like ACTIVE CHILD is the alias for Pat Grossi, a guy that knows how to create some angelic sounds.

BEAR HANDS
MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: Brooklyn
TRACK: What A Drag

I'm obsessed with "What A Drag", the latest effort from Brooklyn's BEAR HANDS. It's an instant favorite and looks to be included on the upcoming FS34 release. They played our CMJ party at Pianos and this new material is incredible.

MR. GNOME

MYSPACE
HOMETOWN: Cleveland, OH
TRACK: Today Brings A Bomb

It took me into their second album to trip over Cleveland's MR. GNOME, but this duo brings five heads to the party with dark, complex and freakish tunes. The whole album is noteworthy for that matter and ended up on a bunch of quality 'Best of 2009' lists. El Marko Records
