TONIGHT IN LOS ANGELES: VOXTROT + FEROCIOUS FEW @ ECHOPLEX

Tonight's Echoplex performance by Austin's VOXTROT is bittersweet. Sad because it's their “Goodbye, Cruel World” farewell tour. Happy because they are a great band of stellar people and they are playing Los Angeles tonight with recent Rumble Tour road dogs - THE FEROCIOUS FEW, WE BARBARIANS and THE BLACK.
It seems like yesterday, or February of 2006, that we fell for the track, "The Start Of Something", added it to Future Sounds 23, and the song really did being the start of something for the band. I compared them to The Smiths, Belle & Sebastian and The Housemartins at the time, but they quickly forged their own identity. Get out tonight and say goodbye.

TODAY IN LOS ANGELES: WAVED OUT @ THE ECHO

AQUARIUM DRUNKARD has put together a festival happening today @ The Echo & The Echoplex called WAVED OUT, which features tons of up-and-comers and some that have already come up. Headliners SURFER BLOOD are everyone's favorites, but BEST COAST, TURBO FRUITS and DIRT DRESS also step in. The nice part about this line-up are there are new bands NOT from LA also featured, like our friends APES OF WRATH and TAPE DECK MOUNTAIN. Even the ICE CREAM MAN is going to be there. All ages + 12 bucks. 14 after six pm! Starts at 3pm

BUZZBANDS.LA presents some incredible acts tonight at The Echoplex: THE LASSIE FOUNDATION rested, ready and reformed, plus AMUSEMENT PARKS ON FIRE. Word has it APOF are at Michael Patterson's studio right now crafting their full-length that's a monster! MAGIC MIRROR and THE BROKEN REMOTES are also on the bill, plus super DJ ANA CALDERON. Party is also FREE, so what's your excuse?

TONIGHT IN LOS ANGELES: EDWARD SHARPE & THE MAGNETIC ZEROS

It's been a long time coming but we'll all get another glimpse of the ever-expanding creation known as EDWARD SHARPE & THE MAGNETIC ZEROS when they play tonight at The Echoplex with GRAM RABBIT (FS14). The band rolls out to SXSW next week and will be playing the PUREVOLUME PARTY HOUSE closing night that Future Sounds is curating, going on late Saturday night/early Sunday morning at 2am. The band hits the stage at 10pm.
