Oakland's sleek, co-ed threesome the Lovemakers join forces with San Francisco's ethereal five-piece Film School for an evening of synth-pop and indie rock. The Lovemakers, who recently signed to Interscope Records, unabashedly seduce, convulse, and make out on stage, pouring on the sex and suggestion with their come-ons and tightly structured pop music. But where their approach is coolly explicit, Film School's is modestly implicit — the group's haunting, subtle melodies reveal themselves far more slowly and self-consciously.
