FUTURE SOUNDS RADIO DEBUTS 3.01.10
More information on artists that debuted on today's Future Sounds radio show on WOXY....
Now that's a band name that you don't need to hear 5 times for it to stick. IWATSW hail from Hellsinki, where worshiping at the alter of great electronic music is the ritual. Their 'Strange Lights' full-length is awesome! GAEA Records (Finland)
Athens has always produced amazing acts from R.E.M. to the Elephant 6 bunch to the latest batch (Twin Tigers) and now FUTUREBIRDS flutters in with a s/t EP that feels like 'It Still Moves' era-MY MORNING JACKET. Unsigned
How this one slipped past our sniffers here in LA I will never know, but LA's MISSISSIPPI MAN sound more like Tapanga Canyon or Ole Miss itself. This act we need to see live but the demos sent our way are stellar. Unsigned
WEINLAND are yet another one of the quality PNW bands from Portland that produce sounds that warm the soul and feel as rootsy as Oregon and bicycles and microbrews. There isn't a bad track on 'Breaks In The Sun'. Badman Recordings
NYC's TTPDR! are every bit as funky as this picture above teases. Another band with big SXSW plans, so put them on your radar. Luaka Bop
We've been into these guys for some time, but finally landed them for our Rumble: Los Angeles party @ 3 Clubs this Thursday, as well as one of The Rumble @ SXSW parties. This track kills it!
Cantora Records
From those smart guys at Indierect Records that brought you the wonderful BELAIRE, this time they drop Austin's THE WHITE WHITE LIGHTS on us in all it's quirky, electro glory! Check these kids out at SXSW.
Vancouver may have just had the eyes of the sporting world on them, but this band might take up the indie rock music slack for this town since closing ceremonies with YUKON BLONDE. Their s/t album is nothing short of brilliant, and this band will get constant play on FS radio until they put out their next release. Nevado Records (CA)
You know that FS has a soft spot for soul, and anyone that even knocks on the door of the great CURTIS MAYFIELD gets welcomed into our fold with open arms. This 10-piece from Milwaukee just got big forks on Pitchfork and are playing our Rumble @ SXSW party. Luaka Bop
This band is grabbing lots of industry attention on the East Coast and are headed to SXSW to capitalize and let people see what they've got under the hood. Those guys at RCRDLBL.COM gave away this demo track. Unsigned
This one was l-o-v-e at first listen. Sonny, if you can hear me, can we do some Rumbles? I just heard nothing but positive reports back from their weekend Noise Pop performance but this SF act hits every trigger that gets us going. SDI rules! Unsigned
Big thanks to WOXY's Joe Long for turning us onto this Cincy band with the kind of sound that makes my indie rock jeans tingle. Expect to hear us play this one often and we're working on getting them down for some Rumbles. Unsigned
