NEW SOUNDS: CRAYONSMITH - BORN IN THE FLOOD
While I'm firming up the final tracklisting for FUTURE SOUNDS 32, I'm overwhelmed with the amount of amazing music that probably won't even make the compilation. It's a good problem to have, and the fruits of those searches I still need to share.
The first act is from Dublin, Ireland, a band called CRAYONSMITH, who are about to do 14 dates on the US tour with ISLANDS in June. It's synthy- it's POSTAL SERVICE like, it's everything you like about THE NOTWIST or THE CHANGES.
Their full length album, "White Wonder" (Out On A Limb Records) gushes with soft ooze. Not afraid to admit the influence that ANTICON has had on them, this effort goes front to back with a strong collection of electronic based indie rock.
Check out "Anything" (YSI)
From Dublin to Denver for the next band, BORN IN THE FLOOD. Started in a tiny town in Missouri, they packed up and went West, stopping in Colorado. At times they have this grandess in song like U2, but then can serenade you beautifully as they do in this track:
"Low Flying Clouds" (mp3). They're unsigned for now, but have people sniffing around.
